Canon Abilities: Cyno is an electro unit, which means that he is able to channel electricity into his attacks, and manipulate electricity in whatever ways he sees fit. He is also able to enter a physical and mental state called Pactsworn Pathclearer, an enhanced state where he channels the spirit of the wolf to attack with large manifested claws. Lingering too long in this state can leave him exhausted if he isn't careful.
Role: Familiar
Role Qualities/Attributes: Physically, Cyno has developed long white jackal's ears and a tail, as well as pads on his hands and feet, and short claws.
Role Reasoning: Cyno began his time in Folkmore as a Legend, for he is a man who embodies justice and goodness, but over the year he has been here he has softened his stance, and begun to see the world more in shades of grey than he previously had. While he still endeavors to be a good person and take care of others, he is not so rigid as he once was, and the Fox saw fit to challenge him with a new Role.

OPTION 2:

  • What is the most important and defining relationship(s) in your character's life and why?

Cyno does not make friends easily, therefore he has very few friends to begin with, so it's easy to say that his most important relationship is what the forest watcher Tighnari. They met while still enrolled in the Akademiya, before Cyno was General, while he was investigating Tighnari. After finding him innocent, the two became fast friends, and Cyno himself admits that his relationship with Tighnari is very close. Cyno finds many of Tighnari's qualities incredibly admirable, and he sees him as the true embodiment of what a scholar should be - both dedicated to their craft, while also respectful of the boundaries.

Tighnari also tends to soften many of Cyno's harder, sharper edges, the mere mention of him is enough to soothe Cyno's hackles, putting him at ease. He trusts Tighnari completely and fully, which is quite a rare feat for someone so intense and guarded as Cyno, and he becomes quite agitated when Tighnari is injured during the events of patch 3.2. The two are fast friends, and Cyno trusts him enough to come to him for aid.

  • What is your character's moral code? Do they have one? Why or why not?

Cyno absolutely has a moral code - in fact, it is one of the most defining features of his character. He lives and breathes his morality and righteousness, nearly to a fault, and it sharply guides his steps and choices. Cyno is more or less what one would classify as "Lawful Good," bearing a great respect for laws and rules and living within them. The way he sees it, society cannot function without adherence to the rules, and for the greater good, they must be upheld.

Nevertheless, this does not mean that he will blindly follow orders, so in some ways he is more Neutral Good than strictly Lawful, as he is more than happy to apply punishments to those who give him orders. When it was found that Sumeru's sages were up to something nefarious, rather than bow down to their demands, he instead exiled himself and laid down his mantle as General Mahamatra, until he was able to confront the sages himself, and bring them to justice. Despite this righteousness, he is surprisingly humble. Cyno is absolutely the type to question even himself if he found himself acting outside his moral boundary.

  • What are your characters dreams and nightmares? Do you believe they are more likely to obtain one rather than the other?

Cyno is absolutely prone to nightmares, and this is something he will struggle with when arriving in Folkmore. Due to events in game, the residents of Sumeru (up until very recently) were unable to dream at all, Cyno included, so it's new territory for him. His good dreams involve his few close friends, Tighnari and Collei, and more recently, those he worked with in Sumeru, enjoying peaceful, quiet time together.

Yet Cyno has lived rather a violent life, and he has not only sent many scholars to their judgment, he has killed, and tortured, in order to achieve his goals and extract information. While he considers all of this necessary to his work, it does not bring him joy to harm others, and his past brutality haunts him. It will be some time before he's able to fully control these nightmares, and even still, he's likely to have them for the rest of his life.

  • Is your character capable of forgiveness or will they hold a grudge until they die? Would anything ever make them change their mind?

While Cyno is capable of great gentleness and forgiveness under many personal circumstances, he often finds it entirely out of his hands. Once he has finished an investigation and deemed his target guilty, there is absolutely no going back. Many scholars have attempted to beg and bribe him not to drag them back to the Akademiya for punishment, but he has never once bowed to their cries. If a law that he sees as righteous is broken, the subject must pay for their crime, end of story, no exceptions.

But that's work. On a more personal level, Cyno does not generally hold grudges. So long as you aren't harming others with your actions, he is actually relatively easy to get along with, if a little awkward. Those he loves he would forgive most anything, though were he to find out that they broke pertinent laws, he would certainly be shaken. He sees himself as the keeper of the scales of justice, and to hold a grudge would be too personal, and involve too much bias; he must remain impartial.

  • What is your character's safespace? When do they feel the most settled and comfortable? When do they feel confident and relaxed?

Cyno, well and truly, does not really have a safe space. Due to his duties as General Mahamatra, he has made many, many enemies, and those enemies are always watching, always waiting for an opportunity to exact their vengeance. Though his demeanor is quiet and aloof, he sleeps with one eye open always, and is never fully and completely relaxed. Constant vigilance is the name of the game.

If he were to feel a modicum of safety anywhere at all, it would be with Tighnari and Collei, his closest, dearest companions. They ease his worries and allow him to feel a little more serene, a little more at ease. The desert is a comfort area for him as well, as it is where he was raised, but even then he is always on alert, ready to react at the slightest sign of danger.
