[ ah, he never tires of this, their silly, loving banter. since becoming partners, virtually nothing has changed, between them. they share a bed now, and intimacy, but everything else is just how it was - this is all simply a natural extension of everything that they had already built.

it's small little domestic moments like this that cyno loves the most. just.. existing with tighnari, being near him, doing little things like the dishes, cooking, sitting on the sofa together while reading. these moments are the ones he cherishes the most, when the two of them are simply being together, doing nothing.
the plates clank lightly as he pulls down two of them, sliding them onto the kitchen island before he's also gathering two glasses, and filling them with ice. ]
[He hadn't been sure at first how Cyno would adjust to not having the pressure and drive of his work to keep him going. How easily he adapted to a more domestic existence is both surprising and gratifying to see, though Tighnari will boast slightly in thinking that it wouldn't have happened with anyone except him.
Out of the corner of his eye, he watches his partner get the plates out. He smiles to himself and moves to serve their breakfast. All of Cyno's favourites, but of course he had to throw in some mushrooms as well.]

Tighnari glances up, that usual expression of weary tolerance on his face as he braces for the punchline.]

[ and it's his birthday, so tighnari has to tolerate it. well. no, he doesn't have to, but still. anyway, cyno pauses for dramatic effect, then delivers the punchline in his usual deadpan voice. ]
[Except for that one time when it was, but he's going to hope that in the moment Cyno does not actually remember the one time he actually laughed at one of his terrible jokes.]
[He's going to have to work hard to make Tighnari laugh, as usual! Since Tighnari can count on one hand the number of times over the years that he has genuinely laughed at one of Cyno's jokes, the man does have his work cut out for him.]
But we have the whole day ahead of us. Who knows what might happen. [Tighnari flashes his partner a grin.] You might surprise me.

at any rate, he cleans himself up quickly and efficiently enough, and dresses comfortably, in black shorts and a sleeveless top. his hair is still wild and damp when he reemerges into the kitchen, snagging tighnari around the waist to pull him close, cyno's chest to his back, arms tight around him. simple, easy happiness is bubbling in his chest. ]
[He had thought for a while about what he could get for Cyno's birthday. The man doesn't care much for material things and would have been happy with nothing more than Tighnari's time and attention for the day but he wanted to give the man something to open, even if it was something small.
So, the box on the counter is a modestly small thing. When Cyno opens it he'll find an arm band inside, gold and with the appearance of a wreath of leaves.
When he looks to Tighnari after opening it, he'll find the man is a little nervous.]
[ tighnari's nerves are obvious to him, but then, he's known this man for many years now, he knows all of tighnari's tics, all of his little idiosyncrasies, and that he's a little nervous is.. cute, really.
he certainly doesn't need to be. there could be a lump of dirt in that box, and cyno would love it. but there's no lump of dirt, instead there's.. a beautiful piece of jewelry. cyno smiles, drawing it from the box and examining it in the light. ]
Like it? 'Nari, I love it.
[ he says softly, warmly, before he's immediately sliding it up his arm and onto his bicep. ]
[Honestly, he had known that Cyno would like it and that any concern that he wouldn't was completely unnecessary. Doesn't he know the man inside and out after all? He knew the moment he laid eyes on the piece that Cyno would love it.
He smiles, admiring it for a moment where it sits against his lover's skin.]
